Here are a few tips of the trade that will aid in your web hosting cause
- Nothing beats a decent research when choosing a web host. The world is yours, search the company information online, to find out if they are credible.
- The basics of developing tool the web hosting should have are PHP, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, CGI, .htaccess , cron jobs. If they don’t have it, skip it.
- Billing and Payments should be automated or have access to view/search records. Those don’t offer such billing support portal, well they’re not professional enough.
- Never get a web hosting from a reseller. Means, their hosting is bought from another hosting giant company. They’re just reselling it to you in higher prices. Reseller have a reputation to be bad business.
- Never register your domain name through your web hosting company. Usually I would separate these two. I use GoDaddy for my domains while HostGator for my hosting. This is so when you want to move host perhaps, things get complicated.
If you want quality yet affordable hosting, try HostGator Hosting. I’ve been with them for years and over a hundred blogs domain with no problems!
