Web Hosting - Three Things to ConsiderPosted August 25th, 2011In today’s economy a website offers an affordable opportunity to anyone who wants to own an online business. Your website could be a scaled down version of an upscale shopping center or a site of personal interest. Today, with the proper marketing both websites can make money. Many of you may be saying that sounds great but, I don’t even know where to begin. That’s the easiest part of the equation of a successful website. You first have to start with web hosting. Web hosting should give us a reliable presence on the internet. A place that’s always there, waiting for traffic. While there really is no free hosting that can be suggested for someone who is trying to make money with a website there are many great companies that offer reliable web hosting. Do your research and remember, when it comes to a paid service there are three important things to consider. First, we can get web design and cheap web hosting through any of the hundreds if not thousands of hosting companies out there. So, we need to do our research before we buy. We need to consider the benefits of each web hosting company. For example a company that offers free hosting may look great in the beginning but, you are still most likely going to have to pay the same price for your domain registration that you would have for a much more comprehensive service that charges you monthly but offers free domain. I have a few web hosting sites I use, love and promote on my own website. The second thing to consider is web design. Just about all web hosting companies offer some really nice templates but, I like to consider how professional the templates look. It’s important to me and I’ll bet it’s important to you, not to have a site that looks like just another template website. The web hosts I use and promote offer thousands of professional templates. They offer templates in any style and category you can dream up. Instead of giving you a thrown together, cheap looking skin for your website. They offer you more options and great savings. Again, I say do your research. When you do you’ll probably be as surprised, as I have been, how easy it really is to create a website. The third thing you must consider is bandwidth. Like most of you, I didn’t have a clue how much bandwidth could impact the effectiveness of a site, until I started my first site. With poor bandwidth from your web hosting service you may never be able carry the kind of traffic your site needs to be profitable. Look at it this way. Let’s say that you have 1 out of 1,000 (1:1,000) conversion rate and you need 30 sales to get out of the red. Then hypothetically you need 30,000 visitors to make that conversion. If you use a sub par web hosting service with restricted bandwidth your website might crash every time you get 20,000 visitors. Don’t make that mistake. With the pricing plans that companies offer with unlimited bandwidth that just isn’t an acceptable mistake to make anymore. Today is the day! The economy is perfect to let an online business succeed.
