1. Decide on what your goals are for your new website.
For instance, some people only want a small website that they can advertise some basic information about their business, product or service. If this is you don’t worry about trying to find a web hosting company that has unlimited space as its only package. You don’t need that size package so why spend your money on with more that what you need.
2. Are you planning on having a website that is extremely busy?
You are probably saying aren’t we all looking to have a busy site. Well some people only want a site for friends and family to see or a small group. If you are only interested in a small group seeing your site you don’t have to worry about lots of bandwidth. Web hosting with lots of bandwidth is for people who plan to have lots of visitors.
3. You need to decide whether you need support with your web hosting.
Believe it or not support is not a standard option for web hosting. Some companies do not offer support and others may charge extra for it. So make sure you read the fine print and decide if this is something you are going to need. How I see it is if you are new at this do yourself a favor and make sure you have it.
4. Decide how much you want to spend.
The price of web hosting can be very inexpensive or it can get kind of pricey. You must decide what the max is that you want to spend for your new service. If you are using your new website for business purposes this is probably something you are going to need for a while.
5. Look for a web hosting company that has a good reputation. With a new company this may not be possible to find out but at least make sure your new does not have negative reputation.
