Don’t Just Build a Website, Build an Online Business

In my opinion, there are only two ways to build a website business, if you do it yourself. Thousands of new websites get added to the web every hour of the day. Most will never get noticed by the search engines because they are not built correctly. Yes, you could pay a lot of money to have a webmaster build a site. Then, you have to pay him or her to maintain the site. Anyone can build a website that works with the right tools.

For 7 years I have been building and putting up websites of one kind or another. I have made many mistakes and wasted tons of time. I am still not a master at it, nor do I wish to be. There are easier ways. The best, I believe, is to create a content site that, over time, can be monetized, and can take care of itself with only occasional input. Google, the number one by far, search engine, favors sites with good content. Just building a website doesn’t mean it will get traffic. It has to be done right with good content, descriptions, keywords, text links and more.

Don’t just build a website. Build a business. Why spend all that time crafting something that’s not going to give you a return on your time. Websites should be built with some kind of return on investment in mind, financial or personal.

Here’s my tips for building a successful website:

1) Don’t use free sites.
2) Buy a.com domain name that’s yours.
3) Find a host that’s easy to work and that has a cPanel dashboard.
4) Create a niche content site, a hobby, a passion, etc. If you can’t write, there are plenty of resources out there for articles on your subject of choice.
5) Build at least a 30 page site, and then monetize it, so you can be rewarded for your efforts.

Building a website that works is easier than you may think. Just take the first leap.
